Welcome to St Buryan Academy

Welcome to St Buryan Academy Primary School; 'a small school with a big heart'...

Our Mission Statement:

'Believe, Imagine, Aspire'

HIGH STANDARDS: Our whole school community strives for the best in all aspects of school life.

ENJOYMENT in LEARNING: Our school was one of the first schools nationally to recognise the importance of a creative curriculum to ensure enjoyment in the learning process. We believe that school should be fun and exciting for everyone in order for our children to understand how they learn and to develop a love for lifelong learning. We are commited to providing first-hand learning experiences whenever possible, such as our 'Law Making' workshop during a visit to Parliament!

RESPECT: We encourage respect for everyone, regardless of who they are or what they have. We respect the environment as a source of life and inspiration.

At St Buryan Academy we believe in making children's learning relevant and do all we can to link our learning to the world around us. We have been granted the guardianship of 76 acres of National Trust land at Tregiffian Cliff and have begun to incorporate this opportunity into our curriculum.

Visitors to the school frequently remark upon the school's family atmosphere and the positive attitude of the whole school community. The high quality of learning and standards of behaviour (judged as 'Outstanding' in our last Ofsted report, July 2012), wide range of extra-curricular activites and close community involvement are all strengths of the school.

Our Extended Schools opportunities include free Breakfast Club provision as well as affordable After School care. We now run a Pre-Reception Class, 'Little Choughs', but continue to build on past successes in all aspects of school life. I am in the unusual position of having attended the school as a child along with four generations of my family, including my 2 grown up children. St Buryan is a special, unique community where everyone strives to work together.

If you wish your child to become part of St Buryan Academy please contact us to arrange a visit, to speak to our excellent team and see our exciting, creative environment.

Yours sincerely,

  Janet Pascoe
