Welcome Back to the Summer Term
I hope you all had a wonderful Easter Break and you are all rested and ready for an action packed Summer Term!
Our whole school topic this Term is 'Ancient Civilisations'! The first Half Term we will be learning about the Ancient Egyptians', a much loved topic by all!
We will be exploring DB Primary, our virtual learning environment during our ICT lessons. This enables your child to communicate with their friends from the comfort of their own home! The children will be able to participate in quizzes and surveys, they will also be able to explore links to various educational websites!
Homework
Please listen to your child read little and often. We suggest a few pages a night or morning if they prefer.
Daily handwriting practice of the high frequency words.
Literacy and numeracy will be set on a Monday and will be expected in by the Friday!
Spellings are to be learnt for a weekly test on Wednesday afternoon.
Please may your child bring a drinks bottle containing water only on a daily basis!

I hope you have had a great Christmas Break and Father Christmas managed to visit you all.
Whole School Topic for Spring Term
Our whole school topic this term will be Food & Farming. During the course of the term we will be looking at: Where food comes from, to identify whether food groups originate from animals or plants, how animals are farmed, how plants/crops are farmed, to understand that people can grow their own food, to understand food needs to be changed from farm to fork to make it safe to eat and some basic farm to fork processes e.g. potato to chips, cow to milk etc.
We hope to visit a working farm to see firsthand how animals are looked after and how crops are grown.
Homework
Your child has had a term to settle in and get used to the increased work load in the classroom. I feel they are all now ready for extra regular homework. Below is a weekly homework timetable. Your child must complete their homework and hand it in on time. Your child will be encouraged to be responsible for handing in their homework, in the morning with their reading book and reading record.
Daily – Reading (at least a few pages)
Handwriting, a page a day.
Wednesday - Spellings
Numeracy (to be returned on Friday)
Friday - Literacy (to be returned on Monday)

Class 1
Year 1 & Year 2 combine on a Thursday afternoon, for ICT and History! This week in History we have been learning about Hieroglyphics. The children explored the different symbols which represent our alphabet. They then went on to create their own Cartouche! We found some of the symbols very tricky to copy and decided we liked our alphabet the best!

Class 1
We have been focusing upon Esafety during our first ICT sessions this term! We feel it is important that your children are educated on how to use the Internet safely! We have been watching and discussing Esafety clips on the website,
We would strongly encourage you to explore this website further with your children and discuss Esafety as a family! Please make sure that you only explore the relevant age related pages!
